Remembering George A. Romero

King of the Zombies

Join us in honoring a legend during ZombieTown 2018.

George A. Romero is the legendary filmmaker behind two of our all time favorite zombie movies, Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead.  During ZombieTown 2018 we will honor his life and work with a late night movie showing and celebrity guests.

About George Romero

For over 50 years, George Romero has been an inspiration to hordes of zombie enthusiasts and filmmakers around the world. He not only revolutionized the modern horror genre, he created the rules for modern zombies that live on in today’s films, TV shows, and video games. George Romero passed away on July 16, 2017, but will be remembered as one of the greatest names in modern horror.

As both a politically committed filmmaker and horror visionary, Romero’s movies are a subtle blend of zombie-apocalypse and social justice. He confronts us with cultural issues such as racism, women’s rights, war and consumerism, and changes the way we see ourselves and the world around us.  He challenges us to do better…to be better.

As creators of ZombieTown, we are inspired by George Romero, his brilliance and dedication to creating a better world. Our hope is to follow in his footsteps by creating an event where everyone feels welcome. A place where we can come together as a community without social or economic barriers that divide us.

I’m like my zombies. I won’t stay dead!

… George A. Romero
